The subject of the competition

Habitare ´99 was a furniture design competition for young designers and architects. The theme of the competition was the furniture environment of a home, and the entries had to reflect the spiritual and cultural atmosphere of the home of the future, as well as the changing lifestyle introduced by the information society. The entrants had to present a piece of furniture, or a group of furniture related to this environment.

In the theme of the competition, we saw our chance to give our opinion on the direction in which values should be built in the future. Even before we started the project, we decided that we were committed to doing the job so well that only value issues could drop us from the semifinal. We were also partly joking that we would either win the competition or not enter it at all.
