Design Archives supports research and education
The archives’ extensive holdings provide unique material for design education and source material for research and theses. Especially for young designers, the treasures of the archives serve as a source of inspiration and new ideas.
The archives contains a wealth of case studies of different design processes and information about the designers’ work. The archives offer the possibility to monitor changes and to get a picture of the current design phenomena and the development of Finnish design.
The majority of the materials donated to Design Archives are freely available. You can search the material in the archives database, which also contains all the digital material. In particular, a large number of photographs and drawings have been digitized. Documents can also be digitized to order. The holdings can be consulted on site in the archives’ research room or interlibrary loaned to the Archives Department, the University of Tampere Library and private central archives.
