Furniture design

To demonstrate the new lifestyle, we decided to design furniture for a food production space. We chose to design a growing unit because it would be a brand-new piece of furniture, again clearly demonstrating the starting point of our work and the difference to our current way of living. We quickly settled on a shelf-shaped growing unit, as there would never be too much space in apartments, and you can grow plants on top of each other on a shelf.

We wanted the growing unit to have the following characteristics: It should be mobile, sufficiently sturdy and allow for variations in humidity and temperature. Germination would take place at the upper level, and the box would be moved lower as the seedling stage progressed. The materials should be ecological, as should the manufacturing methods. It should be beautiful and also large enough to be of any use.
