Saarnio Timo
Timo Saarnio graduated with a degree of interior architect in 1971 from the Helsinki School of Art and Design. For the first ten years after graduation, he worked in various architectural firms and his main work from this period include the interior design of Valio’s headquarters in Helsinki 1975-1977 and the Baghdad Conference Centre in Iraq 1978-1981.
In 1982, Saarnio set up his own interior design office, where he designed interiors for the headquarters of several companies. His customers included Kemira, Perusyhtymä, Fiskars, Partek, Jaakko Pöyry and Haka.
Already in the 1980s, Saarnio had won several awards for his furniture designs, and from the 1990s onwards he focused exclusively on furniture design. Saarnio is one of Finland’s best-known and most successful furniture designers, and his chairs have won awards in numerous competitions around the world. During his career, Saarnio has collaborated with companies such as Martela , P. O. Korhonen, Selka-line Italian Horm srl and Japanese Interior Center Co. Ltd.
