Loiri Pekka
Pekka Loiri is considered one of the pioneers of Finnish poster art, and his work is known for its clear lines and strong colours. In addition to poster design, Loir specialises in lettering graphics, designing comprehensive corporate graphics, and designing logos and company logos.
Loiri studied at the Aukusti Tuhka’s graphic school in the beginning of the 1970s. Before setting up his own studio, he worked as a designer in advertising agencies and as an AD in a publishing house. He founded his own graphic design agency, Studio Pekka Loiri, in 1983. Loiri has also lectured extensively since the 1980s. He has worked as a teacher and principal of the School of Advertising Graphics 1983 – 1997 and a lecturer at the University of Art and Design 1983 – 1997. He also taught at art colleges in all the Nordic countries and at the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts.
Loiri, who has won domestic and international awards in his career, has participated in major poster exhibitions around the world and his posters are included in dozens of poster collections. Loiri has judged in several national and international competitions and since 2004 he has been President of the Lahti Biennale (nowadays the Poster Triennale).
