Blomstedt Kaisa
Kaisa Blomstedt, Interior Architect SIO (1947-2017) was a well-known, long-standing interior design professional. She established her first interior design agency in 1970. Blomstedt’s handprint can be seen in numerous hotels and restaurants, shops, and offices around Helsinki. She was also an internationally renowned lecturer and trainer. There are two books and several interviews published of Kaisa Blomstedt’s work. In September 2012, the Habitare Fari featured a large exhibition designed by Blomstedt, “Time Travel 2012”.
Time Travel 2012 is a comprehensive look at the history of Finnish design and interior design from the 1950s to the present day. The exhibition is structured as a continuum of six rooms from one decade to the next, where the styles, objects, materials and even soundscapes of the rooms changed according to the style of the decades.
“Above all, I hope the Time Travel exhibition will be a nostalgic experience. The exhibition is also my personal journey through time, as I have been decorating Finnish homes and following the trends of different decades in my own work since the 1970s. The exhibition is a tribute to the designers and manufacturers who have contributed to our reputation as one of the best design countries in the world,” said Kaisa Blomstedt.
Kaisa Blomstedt’s collection includes the exhibition plan for Time Travel 2012. The material is in digital format. Here you can see the catalogue of the Kaisa Blomstedt archive.
